Music

So today I listened to a song that I hadn't heard since I was 14, and it definitely affected me more than it did back then. It's just one of those songs you (well me) can't help but cry while listening to it. Everyone has one of those songs that strikes some sort of nerve, but I honestly cannot say why this one has such an impact on me. It's about a married couple who gets into a fight and the wife storms off and ends up in a car crash and all she can think about is how "I love you" was not the last thing she said. I'm neither married, nor do I even own a car, much less drive, but I do think that it has a very important message. Don't ever let anger get the best of you, and if you care about someone, make sure that they always know it because you can never know what the day might bring to you or your loved ones.

I think at the end of the day, that I love you should always be the last thing you said.

Part 2

My week with the boyfriend continued. :)

Well, needless to say, we returned back to the small town of Orleans on Sunday evening because even though he was on spring break, I still had all my classes for the week. Sunday passed us by fairly fast, with more drama then I would have liked, but that's not a story I want to get into at the moment. I showed him around my campus some and the only plus side of my campus in it's looks is the lake and bridges with all the cute ducks. :) We tried to feed them but apparently that's what everyone does on Sundays since there was bread floating all over the pond and they didn't seem to want it. I went to my classes on Monday morning, we went bowling with some of my fellow study abroad students, and then I took him out to see part of our small little town. Mostly because I absolutely had to grocery shop. I had no food in my room to feed either of us. I know going to the grocery store really isn't much, but I guess when you are in France it seems interesting because he was happy enough just to wander the store for a while. Of course, I was the same way the first time I went there. I'm not sure why, but it has its appeal. The rest of the week passed by just as quickly. I showed him the center of town, and all the small stores. We shopped around a little, walked more that I would have liked, and would randomly stop on days that we were out long for a snack and coffee or hot chocolate.

Love him :)
It was a wonderful week, especially because I ended up skipping three days of class just to have more time with him. I know I shouldn't have but I couldn't help it. I made sure I knew what I was missing though, if that counts for anything. I hated when Saturday came around and we left to stay the night in Paris to make sure to get him back to the airport on time. We arrived in Paris so late that we didn't really have time to do much since things were closing so we went out to eat a wonderful dinner together and just walk the streets of Paris. The funny part of our sad last day together was when we arrived at the hotel. The man looked up my reservation and gave us our room key and we went up and found the room to still be occupied when we opened the door. There were clothes on the bed and a bag on the desk and a shirt hanging over a chair to dry. He was very confused and sorry for the mix up and managed to get it right and corrected that we were in a different room. No harm done, we thought it was funny, but he apparently was afraid he'd lose his job or something. Poor man. We didn't really sleep a wink, and when I was almost closing to getting maybe an hour or two of sleep before having to get up, I was woken up my the worst sound in the world. I couple banging quite loudly right beside/below/above us, couldn't tell, but Oh My Gosh were they loud.. I'm pretty sure they woke up the entire hotel. Beds squeaking and slamming against the wall, girl moaning loudly. I was sooo angry, I didn't pay for that room to listen to porn. It didn't take them long at least, but sleep was definitely not in the cards anymore. We made it to the airport just fine, and sat around til he absolutely had to go through security and I made my way back to my small town alone.

Part 1

Time to play catch-up.

Last weekend (March 8th) was probably my most exciting day of being in France so far. I left for Paris with a friend to be able to pick up my boyfriend the next morning from the Charles de Gaulle airport. :) I was so excited I barely slept on Friday night and we left early on Saturday morning to ensure that we would be at the airport waiting for him when he landed so he wouldn't have that mini panic attack that I'm sure he would have if I weren't there waiting, being as we had no way to get a hold of each other and he doesn't know a bit of french. My friend and I were sure we would be there with a ton of time to spare. We left like an hour and a half earlier than he was supposed to be there, and in theory it should have only taken us 30 minutes to get to the other side of Paris. NOPE. First we took the wrong metro line and went to the wrong Charles de Gaulle (who knew that there were two areas called Charles de Gaulle and why would you do that? Ok one was the area of Charles de Gaulle and one was the airport itself, but still. It was stupid). Then when we finally figured out the right way, we were certain we'd still be on time. NOPE. They were doing construction the the one part of the metro line that went directly to the airport so we had to take a whole different direction and take a bus to the airport. By then we were already 30 minutes late. Luckily when we finally arrived and raced to the area he was supposed to be waiting I saw him standing there and practically tackled him to the floor. His flight had been late so he was only waiting for maybe five minutes before I jumped him. :)

Of course the weekend in Paris flew by. My lovely friend Natalie was our designated tour guide and took us to see the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower, and we enjoyed spending the day walking up and down the Avenue des Champs-Elysees. It was amazing and beautiful, and completely exhausting. The streets are so much longer than they look, and the Louvre has WAY to much stuff to ever be able to see in one day. The Mona Lisa is the tiniest painting by the way; so much smaller than you would imagine it to be. We finished our day with eating deliciously overpriced french food at a tiny place on the main street. We went back to the hotel, passed out from exhaustion and woke up to make the train back to Orleans (small town I'm stuck in) to pass the rest of the week.

More to come later. The week was too long with too much fun and/or drama to put in one post.

Boyfriend :)

March 9th is getting closer, and I'm super excited because my wonderful boyfriend is coming to see me for a week during his spring break at school. :) I'm so lucky he loves me enough to spend all that money (because coming to France ain't cheap..) The only sad part is that even though he is on spring break I, however, am not. So I will be stuck attending very boring classes the entire week he's here. On a brighter note at least they are mostly all morning classes, so lord knows since he's a lazy boy he'll sleep half the day away anyways.

Me and my Boyfriend :)
The only problem I'm having now is planning the trip to Paris to get him. In order to meet him when his plane arrives that Saturday I'd have to stay in Paris the night before, and I don't really like the idea of doing all that traveling and such alone, especially since it would be cheaper with a friend to help pay for half the hotel cost. You'd think it would be easy to find a friend who wants to stay the night in Paris and go sight seeing the whole next day, but no.. They're all busy or something's come up. :( I suppose I'll figure something out soon.

Also, I kinda want to do something that would surprise him to see when he gets here, but I'm not sure what to do. I thought about getting my lip pierced but I'm afraid since he'll be here in less than a week my lip would still be too puffy and swollen to even give him a proper kiss hello. Then I thought about just getting another tattoo, since I know I want another anyways, but tattoos are surprisingly expensive here in France. My last option was to go back blonde. Since he liked me as a blonde, seeing as how that was the color of my hair when we first met. So many options, but not sure what to do.

Food

I only have one more day left of my first break from school in France, and it makes me sad, not because I have to go back to classes (that makes me happy because I'll have something to do again) but because I have to do all the homework I put off doing for the past two weeks. Let me just say, I am not looking forward to it. There are tons of worksheets to do and papers to rewrite and correct and the worst part is that they are all in French, and sadly, since I've been sitting in my dorm for the past two weeks, I feel like I have forgotten all the French that I know. Good Luck to me.. :/

On another note, I decided to name off all the food places I will be visiting as soon as I return home and all the food I will consume at each place because let me tell you something, living in France you come to realize that you won't eat unless you eat out, which you can't do because you barely have money. SO, needless to say, I'm ALWAYS starving. The first meal I plan to eat the night I arrive home is Mexican. I NEED queso cheese with my chips. So yummy. I want to go to the Black Horse (local bar in my town) and have their beer cheese dip and chips (probably more yummy than queso at the Mexican restaurant), I want chicken and rice from Cracker Barrel, steak with mashed potatoes and macaroni from Logan's Steakhouse, my standard order of chicken fingers and fries from Buffalo Wild Wings, and I just want tons and tons of fast food.. You don't realize how much you grow to miss junk food like Taco Bell until you live on sandwiches and cereal everyday.

This is how excited I get about broccoli and rice. :P
Lastly, my lovely older sister is teaching me how to do everything and anything on a blog site and she's been very helpful, but I'm still new to working all this so everything is a bit of a mess. Feel free to leave helpful tips or comments if they could aid in fixing up my blog a little more. :)

France - Two Week Break

Well, I guess I'm a blogger now (sort of). I'm not much of a writer, that's boyfriend's thing, but I'll give it my best shot. Maybe I'm creative enough like my sisters to manage to entertain people with my blog, even if it is just about my unadventurous life.

As of right now I am studying abroad in France. People are constantly asking me how exciting it is and want to know about all the cool things I have done. Well I will tell you now.. It's really not that great.. The university I'm attending is very unsightly, and pretty much in the ghetto. I've been told so many times not to go out at night and to never go out alone. I've had a friend who has been pick-pocketed and another who is currently being stalked by a creep. I've been harassed more times than I even care to count, and french people tend to be really rude and impatient with you. Don't get me wrong. There are some really kind people, who explain things to you and who are nice, but when you run into bad things, they tend to stand out more than the good.

From the 16th of February to the 3rd of March is my winter break, and we had so many plans. My friend and I first planned it that we were just going to travel around to different cities in France, but decided we could do that on any weekend. So we changed them and planned a week long stay in London. It was so exciting. We found a great little Inn not far from the airport we would arrive in and it was also close to the tube (which always makes me laugh to say, I have no idea why). We planned out everything that we were going to do and all the attractions that we were going to see. Everything fell into place, until the morning we left to go the airport. There are so many different modes of transportation to rely on... We had to take the bus to get to the train to get to Paris to take two metros and a shuttle just to get to the airport. But unfortunately the bus didn't run at 4:11 like it was supposed to.. So we ended up taking the tram to the train station which left half an hr later then we were meant to leave, and it all went downhill from there. Because of that we missed our train by five minutes and had to take the next one an hr later, and then with the confusion and chaos of the metro we missed our flight by two minutes. The worst part was that they said they couldn't refund us the money or put us on a different flight.

After finally arriving back to the university, completely exhausted from no sleep and carrying heavy bags all day and depressed from our plans not working out, we went to our rooms to unpack. I'm also very sad to say that I have spent my two week break sitting in my dorm room eating junk food and watching tv shows like Friends and The Big Bang Theory to entertain myself. I've rarely left my room, and if I do it's usually to run the restroom or kitchen, which I'm forced to share with the entire floor. I don't even want to start on how much the bathrooms disgust me. Anyways, France so far isn't very exciting for me, and that is one of the reasons I think my oldest sister told me to create a blog. At least now I have something to do.
